Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. At the age of five years old when she left for Oxfordshire and enrolled at the Dragon School. Emma's goal was to be an actor. At the age of 6, she enrolled in the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch, where she took classes in acting, singing and dance. When she was 10 years old, Emma took part in a variety of Stagecoach plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was published in 1999. Casting agents discovered Emma via her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were chosen to play the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. The highest-grossing movie of 2001 it set new records in its first day revenue as well as the opening weekend's earnings. Critics gave high praise to the film and particularly those who were young. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British paper, praised her for her exceptional performance. Emma's performance was recognized and won five awards later in the film.
